The Uganda Investment Authority has issued an official investment License to Prof. Patrick Ogwang to enable him enter a formal process of manufacturing Covidex, a herbal medicine in treatment of Covid-19 and other drugs.

 

The drug made by Mbarara University scientists led by Prof. Ogwang had generated debate over its efficacy in treating Covid-19 and recently received approval by the National Drug Authority.

 

Handing over the copy of the licence to Prof. Ogwanga in Kampala, the State Minister for Investment, Evelyn Anite noted that the Government has also provided him with five acres of land at Soroti Industrial Park to set up a drug manufacturing plant under Jena Herbals factory as well as a 10 year tax holiday to enable him develop his businesses.

 

Prof. Ogwang, the Director of Jena Herbals Ltd which currently manufacturing COVIDEX emphasizes that the drug is curing COVID patients with mild conditions and he needs to invest about 5 billion shillings to increase production and create jobs to Ugandans.
