Ugandans are advised to avoid confusion and detractors at this critical time of controlling the spread of COVID-19.

As Uganda’s Covid-19 case number increased to 522 by Thursday June 4th 2020 against 82 recoveries some sections of the public are spreading romours that Uganda has not got a serious strain of Coronavirus while others claim that government is just following orders from European countries about the Coronavirus.

Most of the recent cases have been recorded from boarder areas; Mutukula, Elegu, Busia and Malaba while a few are contacts from truck drivers.

According to the Ministry of Health, on Thursday June 4th 2020, 15 new cases were recorded, six of which were of truck drivers, four of whom arrived via the Mutukula border and two from Busia were recorded.

Other nine cases are from alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases. These are from Amuru (3), Kyotera (2), Buikwe (1), Nakaseke (1), Lira (1) and Kampala (1) districts, while the 33 foreign truck drivers who also tested positive were denied entry into Uganda.

Now, Dr. Ronald Kasyaba from the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat Nsambya says it’s sad that some Ugandans want to first see fatalities of COVID-19, forgetting the challenge of the country’s health system, a number of those with pre-existing health conditions including the 1.2 million people who are currently on ARVs

He was also of the view that at this time for the person who tests positive of Coronavirus but he or she is asymptomatic, if it is confirmed that that person is responsible enough he must isolate himself from his home to save resources for critical cases at the referral hospitals.
