As the country prepares to join the rest of the international community to commemorate this year’s World Blood Donor Day on June 14, the Uganda blood Bank together with Rotary Club of Kampala Munyonyo and the Indian Association Uganda have launched a week long activities of blood donation as part of the annual blood donation drive.

 

The weeklong activities will be held under the theme: ‘Give blood and keeps the world beating.’

 

Peter Kaggwa, the President of Rotary Club Kampala Munyonyo says that the drive is intended to collect about 1500 units of blood from several donation centers established in Kampala.

 

Sarah Mutegombwa from the Uganda Red Cross Society pledged commitment to mobilize eligible blood donors especially the old to donate blood to reduce on the number of patients who are dying due to lack of blood.

 

Dr Dorothy Kyeyune the executive Director of the Uganda blood Bank appealed the youth to come up and embrace the blood donation activities and voluntary blood donation to fight blood scarcity in the country.
