The Newly Constructed Church, for Christ the King Parish in Kampala will not exceed this year without completion.

The initially 8.8 billion Shs Church increased by about 4.5 billion shs because they totally demolished the old Church structure which was not the plan and built a new structure using locally generated revenue from the parishioners and well-wishers.

The fundraising campaigns started around 2012 and the construction work started in 2017 with the Indian construction company called Seyani brothers that won the bid beating ROKO and Cementers Construction Companies.

According to Parish Priest Msgr. Gerald Kalumba the new church will have a sitting capacity of 1600 people from the previous 600 sitting capacity and already the floor that has been sealed with granite, the three galleries; East, West and North are almost complete. The Church will have a new tabernacle that was donated to the church from Poland.

Msgr. Kalumba says it’s mainly the windows and doors that are delaying them but want the work to be completed this year 2020 since the priestly house was also completed.

He is grateful to all the well-wishers for the support and the parishioners for the efforts taken to have the new church in place.

The new church has got offices, meeting areas, stores and toilets in what you would call underground and a water reserve on top. The newly constructed prespitary has three stories and a lift.
