The speaker of parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has directed the minister of state for higher education John Chrystom Muyingo to update parliament tomorrow on the alleged strike of staff in public universities.
This is after the Bulamogi county mp Kenneth Lubogo raised the matter of national importance in which he demanded to know what plans government has to address the issues raised by the teacher in public universities saying that even though students reported ten days ago they have not been studying due to the strike.
Muyingo at first confirmed that the ministry was aware of the impending strike and that there is an ongoing meeting in state house Entebbe to address the matter by the President.
At least Shillings 138 billion is needed for the enhancement of the salary of staff in all public universities; Shillings 58.5 billion is meant for arrears while 78.5 billion Shillings is for enhancement for the 2018/2019 financial year.
