The Orthodox Community in Uganda has converged at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church Namugoona today to bid farewell to their Metropolitan Archbishop Yonah Lwanga who passed on two weeks ago over Cancer related problems in Athens Greece.

Lwanga 76, died on September 5th and his body was returned in Uganda on Saturday September 18, 202.  Today the Orthodox Church in Uganda led by Bishop Makarios the Metropolitan of Nairobi Kenya who is care taking have organized official prayers and burial of Archbishop Lwanga a function that has been fully facilitated and granted state honour by the central government.

Among other dignitaries attending the burial ceremony are; the Vice president of Uganda Hon Jessica Alupo, Chris Balyimonsi the Minister of ICT, Chief wipe Thomas Tayebwa, the leader of the opposition NUP Robert Kyagulanyi and Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga, Buganda Kingdom is represented by Katikiro Charles Mayiga.

The Catholic Church has been represented by Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Antony Zziwa, the Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference and the Ordinary of Kiyinda-Mityana dioceses, Bishop Paul Ssemogere the apostolic administrator of Kampala Archdiocese and Bishop Steven Kazimba Mugala from church of Uganda.
