The first two Bombardier CRJ900 air crafts for the revived Uganda National Airlines have arrived in the country at Entebbe International Air Port.

The planes touched down at Entebbe International airport around 10.00am this morning amid ululations from guests led by President Yoweri Museveni signaling the official revival of Uganda’s national carrier, which was grounded in 2001.

Museveni officially received the planes after being water cannoned, a common tradition when a country or company receives new planes.

The Planes are embalmed with a word Uganda Airlines and the national flag have registration number 5x-KOB and 5x-EQU.

The first Two Bombardier CRJ900 hit the skies for the first test flight at Montreal Mirabel International Airport, Canada where they have been manufactured to the tune of Shs 280 Billion.

The Uganda National Airlines Company has to wait for 60 days’ period to acquire a fly zone license for 46 routes within Africa and will operate the CRJ900 in dual-class configuration with 76 economy seats and 12 first class seats.

The Chief Executive Officer of Uganda airlines Ephraim Bagenda has confirmed to the country that the remaining two bombardiers will be received before the end of this year followed by the two Air Buses.
