The Catholic Church, the Banking sector and the public are mourning the demise of a profound manager Dr. Simon Seguya Kagugube.
Dr. Kagugube died on Saturday February 15, 2020 from Nakasero Hospital where he was admitted for days.
Kagugube 64, at the time of his death was serving as Chief Executive Officer of Centenary Bank and played a key role with the board in conceptualizing and setting up Mapeera house and promoting good corporate governance.
Centenary Bank has described him as a man of sound wisdom, a remarkable leader, charismatic, intelligent, affluent and yet down to earth.
“He was very passionate to the staff and always brought much joy and laughter to them” they say.
He was born in 1956 attended elementary education before joining Makerere University where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree.
He enrolled for a Diploma in Legal practice, from the Law Development Centre and was admitted to the Uganda Bar, as a practicing attorney.
He went abroad for further studies getting Master of Laws in Corporation Law, Taxation and International Trade Systems from Yale University, in the United States. He also obtained a Doctor of Science of Law form the same university. His doctoral specialization was in Immigration, Refugees and Asylum Law.
Dr Kagugube worked at URA, as Commissioner for Value Added Tax and while there, served temporarily as Deputy Commissioner General of the agency.
In the early 2000s, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers Uganda as the Director of Tax and Legal Services at the same time serving as the chairman of the board at Centenary Bank and board chair of Nation Media in Uganda.
There is a requiem mass this morning at 10.00am for the family, relatives and friends to bid him farewell at St. Charles Lwanga Parish Ntinda and his body will be taken for a vigil at Mawagga their burial grounds along Mityana road and will buried on Tuesday February 18, 2020 at 2pm after mass that will start at midday.
