Police through the Joint Intelligence and Counter Terrorism teams have arrested a terror suspect alleged to have assembled the suicide jacket and belt that was detonated by Muzafaru Matovu on the Swift Safari bus at Lungala, in Mpigi district in October.

 

The suspect is identified as Isma Kiyemba, a 24 year old male adult resident of Makandwa village, Kajjansi Town Council in Wakiso district who was tracked down and arrested using advanced surveillance techniques.

 

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that by the time of his arrest, Kiyemba was in the process of assembling another IED on the instructions of an Allied Democratic Force -ADF commander whose details he availed to the joint task team.

 

Enanga says they have established that the suspect was recruited and radicalized into the ADF terror cell in Lweza by Imam Sulaiman Nsubuga who is on the run and wanted.

 

Kiyemba who led the police to search at his premises at Kajjansi along Entebbe road, was found with a written WILL and planned mission with an assortment of terror related exhibits like bomb making materials including chemical fluids.

 

Other exhibits are five capacitors, electric and copper wires, batteries, screws, nails, a digital timer, two electric mortars, five mobile phones and several sim cards as well as a Bank visa card and materials used in the manufacture of destructive devices.
