The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira has condemned the action taken by people yet unidentified to demolish St. Peter’s Church in Ndeeba.

Luwalira notes that the group behind this evil action is supported by people with guns moreover during the time of curfew and against the orders of the Kampala Resident City Commissioner Faridah Mayanja, Rubaga Division Mayor Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo and Minister for Lands Betty Kamya.

The 40 year old church is said to have been demolished by court bailiffs after a longstanding land wrangle between the church leadership and a businessman only identified as Dodovico.

Police officers have been guarding the land since March this year and no Christian was allowed to access the building until last evening when police allegedly over seen by Oc station Ndeeba Mugira Yeko Kato and DPC Katwe David Epedu  and Field Force Unit Commander KMP South region Isabirye Kaloli who have been arrested on orders of the top police boss along with 7 people who carried out the demolition.

Bishop Luwalira says wrangles over this land have existed since 1980s but they are surprised to see someone going against the law.

Bishop Luwalira says it saddens to see the kind of impunity and greed for property to the extent of not fearing God’s temple because they have Power and weapons.

Meanwhile the Lord Mayor of Kampala Erias Lukwago who rushed to the scene challenged the Acting Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo to give justice to the owners of the demolished Church in Ndeeba.

Lukwago said that court must stand straight and give justice because wrong doers are said to be parting with bribes against Justice.
