The Institute of the Religious Sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix Ggogonya is finalizing her 11th General Chapter at Urika Guest Center Ggogonya Kisubi that started on October 1 with the retreat and ending today October 17th 2019.

Reflecting on the theme; Protecting the Charisms of the Sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix Ggogonya; the sisters have reviewed their operations in line with their constitution and Charisms; addressing challenges of the time that might compromise their mission for example protection of the girl child from abuse.

The 24 member group that has participated in the chapter is to produce resolutions that are to be adopted by the council headed by the Mother general later in the day that will be preceded by the swearing in of the new institute leaders.

Rev. Sr. Dr. Speranza Namusisi the dean of studies at the Institute of Languages and Communication studies at Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi was elected the new Mother General replacing Rev. Sr. Anne Christine Kizza who has served two terms of 6 years each since 2007.

Sr. Dr. Namusisi celebrated 25 years in the institute in 2017 and has worked in different departments within the institute as a teacher, mentor before going for further studies to start teaching at the university.

She was elected with four other council members who include; Sr. Maria Rita Namayanja as the deputy mother general, councilors Sr. Maria Lawrence Namata, Sr. Maria Nabakka and Sr. Maria Josephine Victoria Sserabidde.

The institute of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix Ggogonya was founded in 1948 by the three personalities Bishop Henry Streichter as the Charismatic founder, Sr. Magella Nambi as the feminine character and Archbishop Joseph Luis Cabana as the apostolic founder.
