Police have finally admitted a lad, who died in Rukungiri during the October 18 clashes between anti-riot cops and supporters of presidential age limit provision, succumbed to gunshots.

Edison Nasasira, a resident of Rukungiri district, died in the heat of a protracted battle as enraged protesters tried to access the heavily-guarded venue of a consultation rally organized by Forum for Democratic Change leaders.

A regional police spokesperson had earlier said Nasasira was struck on the head with a stone which took his precious life.

But addressing the media today in Kampala, Police spokesperson Asan Kasingye affirms that the postmortem report indicates that Nasasira was shot dead during the fracas in Rukungiri town.

Kasingye said investigations into the Rukungiri chaos are ongoing and that all culprits would be held liable.

Meanwhile, Kasingye refuted the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) report about being biased on the ongoing age limit consultative meetings in the country saying in all 400 constituencies, only four of them have had chaos but based on other issues.
