Religious leaders under their body the Inter Religious Council of Uganda -IRCU have broken silence on the growing spread of homosexuality and the LGBTQ agenda in Uganda targeting children and families through reading and audio-visual materials.

 

Bishop Joseph Antony Zziwa, the Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference while delivering his speech at a joint press conference in Mengo says that as religious leaders, they have on several occasions condemned and opposed the promotion of homosexuality in the country based on holy books.

 

This comes at a time when the Church of Uganda has just started a process to officially split from Canterbury, the seat of the Anglican Church worldwide following its decision to allow priests to bless same-sex marriages and civil partnerships.

 

Rt. Rev. Dr. Zziwa, also the Bishop of Kiyinda Mityana says that it is high time the government, cultural and religious leaders, teachers, parents and other stakeholders waged a fight against homosexuality in this country.

 

The Archbishop Church of Uganda who is also the Chairperson of IRCU Council of Presidents, Most Rev. Dr Stephen Kazimba Mugalu says the council is moving to create safe places for equipping and empowering the young people against homosexuality tendencies.

 

The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramathan Mubaje warns the public to be conscious of people using rainbow colors in public places that these are for the Lesbianism, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Quire –LGBTQ communities which shouldn’t be embraced.
