The Minister for Kampala Betty Among has clarified that Resident City Commissioners RCC have got only two exemptions to give movement permits to residents who want to use private vehicles during this time of lockdown.

Addressing the press at the Uganda Media Center Kampala Among said only when a person has presented a medical form signed with a doctor or there is no ambulance at the time but a person needs emergency assistance like expectant mother or a cancer patient who needs urgent attention are the only two scenarios that warrant a movement permit from the RCC.

She emphasized that this arrangement applies to only Kampala RDCs in different parts of the country have to work on strictly following the Presidential orders.

For the HIV/AIDs patients Among said they do not need to move they only have to liaise with their health councilors who will connect to the safe boda boda company to deliver the ARV dosages.

However they have identified 29 areas where they have assembled their emergency vehicles got from Uganda Police, Public Services and NGOs like Red Cross. They will be parked among other places CPS Kampala, Fire brigade Kampala, Jinja road Police station, Bweyogerere Police Station, Kisenyi Health Center, Kawaala, Komamboga, Zia Angelina and Kasangati health centres and a toll free line number 080099000 is also provided for assistance.
