Private schools under their umbrella body, National Private Schools and Covid-19 Management Committee have showcased their readiness towards the slated re-opening of schools come October 15th  2020.

In a meeting chaired by the committee chairman at Kings Schools in Najjanankumbi in Kampala, Joseph Kiggundu stated that no school will be issued a Covid-19 compliance certificate if it does not fulfill the set Standard Operating Procedures.

In the same meeting Kiggundu asked head teachers to have a daily register of learners and staff members, having clean running water, disinfect classrooms and dormitories daily, sanitizers for teachers, enough spacing in class and monitories, set up covid19 management committees comprising of seven members among other guidelines.

And on the issue of pregnant learners, Kiggundu says, they will have to discuss with the regulator and parents on how best to accommodate them back in order for them not to lose out on their education career.

The committee plans to move to private schools up country to take the directors and headmasters through the set SOPs before the term begins.
