The Land Commission of Inquiry has confirmed President Yoweri Museveni’s extension of its term of operation for more 18 months which is one and a half years.

This has been pronounced by the commission Chairperson Justice Catherine Bamugemereire while opening the public hearing with the former Mukono district Land Board Charles Ssemanda this morning over fraudulent allocation of land titles in the district.

Late last year, the commission was granted an extension of 6months that expired on May 9 2018 due to the need for more time to complete investigations.

Justice Bamugemereire said that their renewed term commenced on May 4th with some new changes in staffs. Notable among changes is replacement of the Commission Secretary Olive Kazaarwe who was recently appointed High Court Judge with Dr. Daglous Ssingiza.

However, the Commission Lead Council Ebert Byenkya stated that this period will help the commission reach in every part of the country and also conclude the 3000 cases so far received and those yet to be registered.
