Stella Chesang has won for Uganda the 2nd gold medal in 10,000 m women’s finals in the ongoing 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia.

She is the second athlete to win gold for Uganda after; Joshua Cheptegei’s won the country the same medal in the men’s 5000M race yesterday.

Mercyline Chelangat also won bronze after she emerged third in the same athletics women’s 10 000m finals.

The 21-year old Chesang was in the lead for most of the race at the Carrara Stadium in Australia on Monday to record a time for 31:45.30.

Another Ugandan Mercyline Chelangat also won a bronze medal in the same race in a time of 31:48.41 behind Kenya’s Stacy Ndiwa who was second.

The third Ugandan runner in the race Juliet Chekwel finished in 7th position in a time of 31:57.97.

Moments after Chesang’s victory, President Yoweri Museveni extended his Congratulatory message on twitter saying the police officer had done her country proud.
