The devastating Covid-19 pandemic situation in the world could be solved through prayer and mortification, the Catholic Church has said.

Fr. Victor Mubiru, the Youth Chaplain of St. Peter’s Catholic Parish Church Nsambya cites the lockdown that freeze all activities including education for a couple of months leaving many children spoilt, saying that this problem is costing not only parents but countries and the world at large.

About 15 million learners were affected by being sent home in both 2020 and 2021 country lockdowns.

Although children are with their parents or guardians at home a place thought to be safer for them, many have been sexually abused with over 300 infected with HIV according to the recent figures from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.

While leading the mass celebrating the Children’s Rosary Rally at Holy Cross Family Ministries Offices Nsambya for this year, an annual event for the children on the day of Our Lady of Rosary marked every October 7th, Fr. Mubiru called for prayers and reciting of the rosary in this month for the world to get healed of Covid-19 and its effects.

The Director Holy Cross Family Ministries Fr. Lenard Olobo hailed parents who have played their responsibility of guiding and protecting their children during the lockdown.
