Pope Francis has declared a prayer marathon in the whole world in this holy month of May to pray through the intercession of mother Mary for the world to get healed of Covid-19.
The Pope’s declaration comes when many western countries are in another phase of lockdown after a surge in the infections and deaths due to Covid-19 even as the world is taking on Vaccination against the deadly pandemic.
Globally 152.8 million people have contracted the disease, 3.2 million have died and 130 have recovered.
The Pope requests the ordinaries of different dioceses to prepare special churches where rosary prayers will be conducted. This has been revealed by the Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Antony Zziwa.
Also drawing from the Pastoral letter of the Catholic Bishops of Uganda that was released in December 2020 ahead of the general elections, Bishop Zziwa has reminded the government to address state of panic people are living in right now and also to value the work of journalists.
This comes when journalists world over are tomorrow May 03rd going to commemorate the world press freedom day but in Uganda journalists are drawing to the day with tells of endless incidents of brutality unleashed to them by the police and other security agencies.
