Police has staged road blocks to enforce the presidential directive of using masks for any person from 6 years and above while in public.

According to our reporter police in Masaka has set up roadblocks leading to Masaka, people have found it hard to pass through those roadblocks unless one has a face mask.

In his address last evening president Museveni said distribution of free face masks from the government will start on June 10 starting with boarder areas in the effort to control the spread of Coronavirus.

At the same time traders in Masaka and district authorities are confused on what to do over who was allowed to work because he Okayed business within shopping malls but distinguishing between a shopping mall and an arcade is difficult.

President Museveni reaffirmed his position that no boda boda or tuku tuku will be allowed to carry any passenger due to closeness that it could lead to the spread of Coronavirus.

Museveni said ministry of education was to work out plan for the re-opening of schools for candidates but the anticipated opening on June 2, 2020 as it was earlier announced on May 19, 2020, it was deferred in fear for protection measures.

He however insinuated that it might be possible to buy at least two TV screens for the 70,000 villages for students to go on with their studies but it was still a subject of discussion.

Protection of health workers was also another point of interest, and following on truck drivers who are currently the center of Coronavirus, they must be checked for their cell status.

This comes as Uganda’s Covid-19 case number increased to 489 after 32 new confirmed cases reported by the ministry of health on Tuesday June 2, 2020.

Among the new cases, 19 are truck drivers from Elegu, Malaba, Busia and Mutukula border points. The other 13 are contacts from previously confirmed truck drivers and ‘alerts’.
