Police have explained the circumstances under which an 80 year old man who was earlier arrested from Kasese and later found dead in detention at the Special Investigation Division Kireka.

This is after last week, the opposition Members of Parliament led by their leader Mathias Mpuuga put government on the spot over the death of the 80 year old National Unity Platform -NUP supporter from Kasese that they attributed to torture.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson while addressing the journalists on Today at Naguru said that Constantine Muhonja of Buhuna village, Karambi Sub County in Kasese district died after collapsing in a bathroom at Kireka where he was being detained after arrest by operatives from Crime Intelligence Directorate -CID.

Enanga explains that the 80 year old was arrested after suspects earlier arrested over involvement in the attack of Busiika police station in Luweero told interrogators that Muhonja was an agent of the Allied Defense Force in Kasese.

He however dismissed claims that the 80 year old was targeted because he was a supporter of the opposition National Unity Platform but including one Moses Katende alias Mao informed police about Mugonja’s involvement in aiding the movement of ADF recruits and terrorists to enter and flee the country.
