The Police authority has directed all the commanders in the country to instruct officers to put out of action any gunmen who attack them.

This follows several attacks on Police stations and posts at Luweero, Kapeeka, Busiika and Jinja where a number of officers have been killed and guns stolen.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that the Regional Police Commanders -RPCs, District Police Commanders- DPCs, Police Station and Post Commanders have to increase their defense mechanism to counter-any attackers with intentions of killing officers and grabbing guns.

Enanga further disclosed that the preliminary findings in the recent attacks on Police officers show that there are elements of political grievances behind these incidents.

Meanwhile, the Police have clarified that there are only three serious territorial attacks where guns have been lost including check points of Jinja and Luweero and Busiika Police station but other incidents where rifles have been lost were due to officers’ recklessness.
