Parliament of Uganda has this evening paid tribute to the repose of President Pierre Nkurunziza of the Republic of Burundi who succumbed to cardiac arrest on the evening of this Monday June 8th 2020 at Karuzi hospital in Burundi.
Late Nkurunziza 55, who was due to step down in August this year having served for 15 years as President of the Republic of Burundi.
Parliament through the Rt. Hon. Speaker Rebecca Kadaga during a to pass the 2020/2021 financial year budget, on behalf of the entire parliament conveyed condolences to the East the East African Community where Burundi is a member state, and as Parliament observed a moment of silence in honour and a prayer for eternal rest to the late Nkurunziza.
At the same time Parliament also paid tribute to fallen bush war heroe Maj Gen Kasirye Gwanga who passed on early morning of June 9th at Nakasero Hospital as well as Uganda’s permanent United Nations Representative Ambassador Christopher Onyango who passed on from Geneva Switzerland yesterday.
