Parents are advised to provide protection and guidance to their children because groups carrying out secret recruitment of youths are on search for new members.

Rev. Fr. James Burasa from the Holy Cross Congregation currently teaching at Langata University in Kenya says Kenya is on test over such recruitments and the commission established in 1994 over the problem there is no national program to address it.

Fr. Burasa says secret recruitments of the youth are done through peer groups, schools and in a one on one approach. He says youths have become victims because of curiosity while others are driven by worldly desires.

Most of them after being recruited have found devastating behaviours and in fear to open up, they resort to separation from the family and community, anger, drugs and alcohol challenging parents to be on watch over such symptoms among their children.

He advised parents not to abandon their children especially during this long holiday and try to provide them with the necessities at school.
