The Electoral Commission has stated that it hasn’t gazetted the Red colour as the official colour for Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP).

EC Chairman Justice Simon Byabakama says NUP declared red colour as its official colour without researching on whether it had been gazetted as required by the Political Party and Organizations Act.

Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) is reported to have challenged EC for sharing it’s dominant red and blue colours to NUP.

However, Byabakama says that they the law prohibits NUP from using color red that is already gazetted by UPC.

Meanwhile, Byabakama confirms to have received a petition from people, whose identities he did not disclose, and challenging MP Kyagulanyi’s ownership of the NUP party.

It was at the same Press Conference  where the chairman announced that traditional campaigning through public rallies for the 2021 general election has been officially banned to save the country from the spread of Coronavirus but for any meetings to be held under the guidance of the police must adhere to the health emergency standards.
