NRM Members of Parliament have been stopped from moving private members’ bills before consulting the party Caucus leadership and the Government Attorney General.

This has been revealed by the Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua while addressing journalists saying this was among the 24 resolutions agreed upon by the NRM Caucus at Ngoma State Lodge in Nakaseke district.

Obua says this was done to avoid internal setbacks and clashes amongst members and also to build consensus.

Obua further stated that the caucus also resolved to amend the NRM Parliamentary Rules to allow for Parliamentary Commissioners to be voted by the NRM Caucus as opposed to being appointed by the party’s Central Executive Committee.

He says this is to give MPs the chance to choose Commissioners whom they desire to lead them.

Other resolutions agreed upon by the Caucus include; supporting valve addition to coffee and sugar, and to monitor the Parish Development Model and other poverty alleviation programmes.
