The Newly appointed Pope Nuncio to Uganda His Excellency Most Rev. Luigi Bianco, has headed to the Nunciature in Mbuya shortly after landing in the country this mid morning.

Archbishop Bianco has been welcomed by the Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Anthony Zziwa, the ordinary of Kiyinda Mityana diocese, Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga and his Vicar General Msgr. Charles Kasibante and the Secretary General Uganda Episcopal Conference Msgr. John Baptist Kauta at Entebbe international air port at around 11.40am.

Archbishop Bianco the titular Archbishop of Faleron, was appointed in February this year replacing Archbishop Michael August Blume who served as Nuncio to Uganda from February 2013 to July 2018 and then transferred to Hungary.

Archbishop Bianco was born on 3rd March 1960 in Asti Italy, and was ordained priest for the diocese Casale Monferrato on March 30, 1985.

He has a doctorate in Canon Law. He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1989 and since then he has served in the different Nunciatures like; Italy, Egypt, Argentina, Croatia and Spain, Honduras, Ethiopia and  Djibouti where he was posted in 2014 and also doubled as the Apostolic Delegate to Somalia until the time of his appointment to Uganda.

His Excellency Most Rev. Bianco speaks Italian, Spanish, French and English.
