President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to meet a 10 member delegation team from the Orthodox Church headed by Bishop Makarios on Tuesday this week at state House Entebbe.

 

This has been revealed by the Vice president of Uganda Hon. Jessica Alupo while reading the condolence message of the president during the burial of late Archbishop Yonah Lwanga today at Namugoona.

 

Alupo said that the purpose of the meeting is to continue strengthening the relationship of government and the Orthodox community in Uganda.

 

Alupo further adds that president Museveni has also accepted to meet with the Patriarch of Alexandria and all members of the African Orthodox Church planned to meet in Uganda after the 40 days have passed from day when Archbishop Yonna Lwanga died.

Metropolitan Archbishop of the Orthodox Church in Uganda Yonah Lwanga 76, died on September 5th 2021 in Athens Greece over Cancer related problems, his body was retuned on Saturday September 18, 2021 and he has been laid to rest today September 20th 2021 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church Namugoona at a colourful service led by Bishop Makarios the Metropolitan of Nairobi Kenya who is care taking the late Archbishop Lwanga’s seat a function that has been fully facilitated and granted state honour by the central government with Three (3) gun salutes

President Museveni has praised the late for his social and economic efforts that have helped this country to get peace and development.

 

Meanwhile, the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has sent his condolences through the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga to the Orthodox church and family over the shocking sad news of the death of his eminence Jonah Lwanga, who loved his culture, kingdom a special gift other religious leaders should emulate.

 

In the same way the president of National Unity platform party (NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has praised the legacy of Late Archbishop Yonah Lwanga and asked all leaders in Uganda to work for peace and respect of human rights the late has championed in his life time.
