Mulago National Referral Hospital has called on Government to allocate Shs101.billion from the current Shs8 billion it receives if they are to offer better health services.

Dr. Byarugaba Baterana, Executive Director also the Secretary of the Mulago hospital Board of Directors while sharing the progress and challenges the hospital is experiencing to the board of Directors today said that Mulago would do better with reasonable funding but the little money allocated to the hospital can’t facilitate its roles and activities like paying off workers and acquiring of equipments among others.

Doctor Baterana says many people who go to Mulago demand for free Medical services which is very expensive with the Money Government allocates to them.

The meeting of the board of Directors is intended to mitigate challenges the hospital is facing and to seek for further financial support from the Government.

It’s remembered that Mulago Hospital started in 1913 by the colonialists and from that time it has upgraded to currently 1,550 beds, 7 oxygen plants and it’s the Teaching hospital for Makerere University school of public health.
