Members of Parliament on the Select Committee investigating the alleged land evictions in Hoima district have demanded for the release of four juveniles remanded to Hoima Government Prison.

In a letter dated April 10, 2019, signed by Gaster Mugoya Kyawa, the Committee Chairperson and addressed to the Hoima Chief Magistrates Court, the MPs note that the four juveniles were wrongly detained at Hoima government prison together with adult inmates.

The juveniles are part of the 78 suspects who were arrested by security operatives in Kyabisagazi 1 and Kyabisagazi 2 in February following the evictions in the area.

They are being accused by security of being involved in subversive activities and have since been remanded to Hoima government prison.

The MPs want the juveniles produced in court and released on bail before one week elapses.

Gaster Mugoya Kyawa, the Chairperson of the committee says that it was wrong to mix the juveniles together with adult inmates.
