The Parliamentary Forum on Disaster Risk Reduction and Mitigation want the government to enhance its flood management system starting with a fear budget allocation to save Ugandans from this national calamity.

The chairperson of the forum, Alex Byarugaba, says that the proposed allocation of 77 billion Shillings to the contingency fund is below the 0.5 percent of the National budget stipulated in the Public Finance Management Act.

Byarugaba adds that despite budgetary constraints, government must facilitate emergency responses to disasters. He was addressing a press conference in Kampala early today.

Bunyole West Member of Perliament James Waluswaka, who hails from an area that was recently divested by floods leaving 7 people dead says the government needs to enhance its flood management through flood routing; a technique that helps you to determine the flood hydrograph at a section of a river by utilizing the data of flood-flow at one or more upstream sections.
