Motorists have today taken a chance to have a ride of their vehicles following the easing of the strict lockdown that started at the end of March 2020.

President Museveni in his 14th national address about the country’s stride to control Coronavirus he okayed private cars to move strictly with three occupants, having face masks and not beyond the curfew time that starts at 7pm to 6.30am.

Many people have been seen on the streets cruising and admiring parts of the city Kampala and other places they had taken long to reach for almost two months now.

Check points manned by the traffic officers with LDUs and other few having UPDF personnel are not strict to any motorist, however the police spokesperson Fred Enanga said yesterday that all motorists must have the prerequisite of driving on the road or else they will be arrested and vehicles impounded.

This comes as the country’s coronavirus case number stands at 222, but with fears that some people in the hiding who are believed to have had contact with the 7 positive truck drivers who disappeared within Kampala, according to the ministry of health
