The Minister of ICT and national guidance Dr. Chris Baryomunsi while updating the country about the Cabinet meeting yesterday that took place at state house Entebbe revealed that officials from ministry of education and Sports presented the bill that will among others provide regulations of the teaching profession, promote and maintain ethical standards in the teaching field and also provide for the establishment of the national teachers council.

 

The National Teachers Council will be responsible for the behaviours of the teachers, and anyone who misbehaves can be de-registered.

 

The Bill was approved by Cabinet and only awaits to be presented before parliament.

Meanwhile Government is set to begin vaccination against Covid-19 of children in the age bracket 12 to 17 years using Pfizer vaccine countrywide.

 

Dr. Baryomunsi says Government reached the decision to have the 12 to17years olds vaccinated against Covid following successful trials against the pandemic done on this age group by the international health bodies.

 

He also noted that vaccination of children is not harmful like some people have been alleging hence calling upon parents to embrace the exercise by taking their children to get vaccinated since it will be done with the parents’ consent.
