Minister Nakiwala demands for transparence in foster homes

Proprietors and over seers of Child Care Homes have been cautioned against recruiting children from families with the intention to increase numbers to get money.

The Minister of State for Youth and Children, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi while handing over certificates to the newly licensed Children’s Homes today said that getting a child from his family is bad because it violates his/her rights.

Nakiwala says only abandoned children with no tress of their parents or relatives should be kept in such homes and only a number they can be able to cater for should be accommodated.

Over 30 newly licensed homes have been given certificates of operation .
