Security agencies have noted that there were no major cases registered on 3rd June during the celebration of the Uganda Marty’s Day at Namugongo in Wakiso district.

According to the Police report that covers a period of 7 days from 28th May to 4th June 2023, since the deployment of security personnel at Namugongo, a total of 199 cases were registered.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that among the 199 cases, the majority were of phone thefts which were 130 cases in total while the others were general cases.

He says that 148 suspects were arrested in relation to the registered cases while 45 children who went missing were reunited with their parents.

Enanga further says that the security personnel from various security agencies were able to provide security to the over 3m participants who were both local and international that celebrated the Martyrs.

Meanwhile, Rogers Kauma Nsereko, the Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Police Commander revealed that they registered 3 separate road crashes in the last week of honouring the Uganda Martyrs day celebrations.

Nsereko revealed that a total of 7 pilgrims died in the 3 road crashes while over 17 were left nursing wounds.
