The Minister of education Janet Kataha Museveni has cautioned Makerere University students to desist from using unprofessional means to solve conflicts.

Speaking during the 70th Makerere University graduation ceremony, Ms Museveni who also doubles as the first lady says that the society expects the learned students to use peaceful means to solve grievances but when they choose strikes as the only means, they get disappointed.

She notes that the late Rwendeire’s report committee that was put in place by the ministry of education is finalizing the white paper that will see them implement the recommendations to solve the problems causing strike in public universities.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University Prof Barnabas Nawangwe vowed to dismiss all students who will be caught in hooligans’ acts like striking among others but he also apologized for the delays experienced by the students to get their gowns saying they have at least procured 15,000 gowns that are to be given out to them.

Over 13,500 grandaunts will graduate during the four days ceremony that has started on January 14th to 17th 2020 with 422 attaining first class, 61 PHDs and over 1,700 with Masters.
