Erias Lukwago the lawyer representing events promoter Abbey Musinguzi aka Abitex has asked court to arrest and include on the case file both the Freedom City Mall owner and manager.

He said this while appearing before Makindye Grade One Magistrate Igga Adiru on Tuesday together with the accused who include Abitex and Freedom City Master of Ceremony (MC) Francis Jjuuko who had appeared to know the status of state investigations.

Lukwago’s prayer followed the state’s prayer of adjourning the matter on grounds of investigations not yet being complete and further that there is need to add other people on the case file a point which Lukwago prayed that Ssebalamu the owner of freedom city and the manager be added onto the file because they are equally responsible.

The matter has been adjourned to 7th March 2023.

Prosecution alleges that the duo and others still at large on the 31st day of December 2022 and on 1st January 2023 at freedom city mall Namasuba in the Wakiso district in a manner so rash or negligent so as to endanger human life caused death of nine people and caused injuries to two people by closing other outlet from the venue gates leaving only one small gate which cannot make over 20,000 people to move out easily or safely.
