The Law Development Center (LDC) court has on Monday granted bail to a group of ten who were arrested demonstrating against the continued detention of National Unity Platform-NUP supporters.

The women are; Stella Kyeone, Allen Nakiku, Milly Namatovu, Fiona Nankya, Rukia Sselonga, Jackie Bulungi, Allen Nantume, Sylvia Ramuto, Flavia Apio and Elizabeth Nyanzi.

The group was arrested on Women’s day holding placards reading, ‘stop torture’, ‘free my husband’, and ‘We want equality for Mrs. Olivia Lutaya”.

The women who had chained themselves were arrested from Kalwere Market as they headed to the city center early this month.

On Monday through their lawyer Robert Samuel Wanda have sought for bail and accordingly they have been granted a cash bail of one hundred thousand each by Grade one magistrate Samuel Kirya and all their surieties have been bonded at two million non cash.

The granting of bail followed a no objection from the state prosecutor Patricia Okiror who contended that all the surieties that had been brought to court were substantially the same as the paperwork submitted in court.
