President Yoweri Museveni has cautioned Landlords who are trying to evict tenants for delayed rent payments to stop until the end of this COVID-19 situation.

Kenya and Rwandan governments suspended Landlords from levying rental charges until further notice due to effects of Coronavirus.

Now Museveni says that Landlords should instead contribute to the national cause and be patient since the world is not ending.

He emphasizes that the shutdown is for a limited period and will end hence calling on the public to be strict on implementing all the guidelines after 30days since the start.

This comes after renowned landlords in Kampala among them, Drake Lubega, Mansur Matovu a.k.a Young and Godfrey Kirumira owners of city arcades like Namaganda, Zai, Majestic and M.M. plazas, all on Luwum Street, and Jumbo Plaza on Parliament Avenue Energy Centre and Mirembe Arcade are said to have issued warning letters to tenants for delayed payment of rent and they would be evicted.
