Lubaga Cathedral filled to capacity as parents, priests, friends and well-wishers converged to witness the ordination of 16 priests and 14 deacons the highest number in the recent past by the Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian KizitoLwanga.

Dr. Lwanga was accompanied by among others the Bishop Emeritus of Hoima diocese Rt. Rev. Edward Akiki Baharagate who is celebrating 49 years in episcopate and 88 years of age.

In his homily Dr. Lwanga said Priesthood derives its roles from the three pillars; governing, sanctifying and teaching which is also the way the diocesan departments are divided to give a clear understanding of the calling and service.

Dr. Lwanga said Priesthood calls for drawing people closer to God, bringing new life to the afflicted and love, crediting Catholic Media; Radio Sapientia and Maria for supplementing on this role.

When Pope Francis came to Uganda in 2015 he reminded the ordained and all Ugandans never to lose memory this will help priests and every Christian in his calling.

He called on the congregation to pray for the priests, advice and ensure total discernment through the celebration of sacraments.

Dr. Lwanga also warned of false groups that are moving around claiming to perform miracles under the Catholic Church that its not true.

The head of vocations Fr. Wyselouse Konde said the archdiocese is looking after 140 seminarians currently in the major seminary a task that calls for commitment in terms of guidance and support both in kind and materially.
