Journalists are advised to be more sensitive while reporting on matters regarding elections to avoid causing conflicts among political players and all Ugandans.

This has been said by the deputy Antony General Mwesigwa Lukutana while officiating at the Media Training organized by the National Consultative Forum for Political Parties and Political Organizations in conjunction with UNDP at Imperial Golf View Hotel in Entebbe a head of the 2021 general elections.

He says sometimes the media should consider stability of the country and economic development while reporting on various issues than thinking of exposing what they feel are facts yet they are to cause havoc in the society.

He added that today,s journalists have turned to advocative journalism which he said is in breach of the rules/laws/regulations of Uganda Communications Commission.

Leonard Mulekwa from Uganda Electoral Commission said there is a need to have accurate, neutral and conflict sensitive reporters who positively influence people’s attitudes so as to maintain peaceful Democratic processes.

The workshop is in line with the NCF media and public relations strategy which provides for the identification and management of public relations issues including crisis management.
