The Opposition Justice Forum (JEEMA) has condemned the manner in which media freedoms is being threatened by the authorities in Uganda.

The party spokesman Abdulnoor Ssentongo Kyamundu says the orders from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to almost all media warning against live broadcasts of some political players as they exercise their rightful procedures is totally against the law.

They further contend that these threats are unconstitutional and aimed at gagging media freedom and illegal censoring of content that is deemed a threat to the regime which is direct contravention of Article 29 and 41 of the Constitution of Uganda.

Ssentongo called on UCC to execute its mandate in respect to rights and freedoms the country is obliged to.
