The office of the Inspectorate of Government is to set up an independent digital portal that will be used by Army officials to declare their wealth.
This was revealed by the Inspector General of Government (IGG) Betty Kamya while responding to the concern that President Museveni directed her office to stop asking army officers from declaring their wealth.
Kamya refuted the directive saying that Museveni wrote to her office guiding on how they can compel the soldiers to declare their wealth rather than being public saying that it might compromise the countries security.
She says that the president proposed that the declaration of wealth by soldiers be handled by CIM together with the office of the Inspectorate of Government.
Meanwhile, Kamya has also revealed that her office has completed a legal framework that will guide in pursuit of lifestyle auditing of public officials who swindle public funds.
In the same vein the Manager Litigation in the office of IGG Vincent Kasujja revealed that they have completed the drafting of a proposed law entitled “The Civil Asset Recovery and Comprehensive Witness Protection Law” that will enable the attachment of properties and recovery of stolen public funds from public servants accumulated through corrupt means.
