Ministry of ICT has rejected the request by parliament to lift the ban on scratch card/Airtime cards.

Members of Parliament (Mps) seating on the Parliamentary ICT Committee chaired by Annet Nyakecho had pleaded to the ministry to re- consider the ban following public outcry that it had become more difficult to access airtime since government introduced E-top up on July 1st this year.

It was said that Airtime scratch cards are both dangerous to humans and the environment.

However the Minister for ICTand National Guidance Frank Tumwebaze insisted saying government may not reverse its decision may be only over grounds of making losses by telecom companies.
