Ministry of Education and Sports has reminded on head teachers to maintain the national circular on school fees to control the increasing drop out of children from schools.

Last year, the Education Minister, Janet Museveni banned schools from increasing fees and demanding scholastic materials until further notice.

While opening the two days’ senior four selection conference at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) show ground Lugogo, the Director Education Standards in the education Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda says that they sent out the circular to all schools directing them against increasing the fees.

She says this was after discovering that fees increment practiced by most schools especially the private is a major cause of school drop out by the children since most parents or guardians tend to fail affording such huge amount of money.

She further calls on schools to embrace the new curriculum in order to focus on teaching students with a view of equipping them with skills that could lighten their future and contribute to the national development.
