The Ministry of Education and Sports plans to utilize all grounded vehicles in public universities for learning purposes in technical schools.

According to recent report of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Sports, the ministry had asked Makerere University which has more than 70 grounded vehicles to support tertiary institutions with the vehicles as instructional materials.

Jacob Opolot, the committee chairperson told our reporter that during one of the meetings with officials at Makerere, they were informed that it was the Ministry’s request to retain the vehicles such that they can be taken to the various technical institutions.

The Principal Uganda Technical College Bushenyi, Silver Mukwasibwe, says there are vocational training institutions that lack instructional materials, arguing that such an offer would give students a real-life experience of motor vehicle engineering.
