The Ministry of Education and Sports has warned to punish all school authorities that will continue defying the recent directive and guidelines on increasing school fees and demanding unrealistic non cash requirements.

This comes after the same ministry warned private school managers against hiking school fees as schools reopened this week on January 10.

Most schools including the government aided schools like Kibuli, Makerere College and Mengo had reportedly doubled their school fees in the name of implementing the Coronavirus containment protocols announced by President Yoweri Museveni, Ministry of Health and the Education Ministry.

Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, the State Minister for Primary Education told journalists today at the Uganda Media Center in Kampala that head teachers who will fail to observe guidance given in the circulars distributed to all schools will be interdicted or transferred.

Meanwhile, Ismael Mulindwa, the Director Basic and Secondary Education in the Ministry of Education and Sports refutes media reports indicating low learners return to schools saying that this is false since almost the majority of the children have returned.
