Government has pledged its continued support to the Uganda Red Cross to ensure that they fulfill their five year development strategic plan.

 

This has been revealed by the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who was represented by his first deputy Gen. Moses Ali at the launch of the Uganda Red Cross 2021-2025 strategic plan under the theme; “A Self Sustaining National Society”

 

He says Government acknowledges the contribution of the Uganda Red Cross especially in bridging Government responses in times of emergencies.

 

The Secretary General of the Uganda Red Cross Society, Robert Kwesiga noted that they need over 235 billion shillings to finance the 5 year strategic plan.

 

He also said that the four focus areas in the strategic plan include; institutional development that strengthens governance and management structures, membership and branch development that enhances branch governance, management plus public knowledge on Red Cross information, partnership and resource mobilization as they manage partnerships to ensure value and quality of resources from existing and new partners are continuously improved and program sustainability that strengthen communities resilience.
