Government has accused police of feeding the country with wrong information over the ongoing Bank of Uganda saga

The Police spokesperson Fred Enanga informed the country that investigations were ongoing in the alleged printing of extra Uganda currency by officials from the Bank of Uganda following a whittle blower.

However, today the government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo refuted the alleged printing and bringing into the country extra money worth UGX 90 Billion saying that ongoing investigations are only for the extra 20 boxes of goods that were shipped on a plane chartered by the Bank of Uganda to transport Uganda currency.

He accuses Enanga of telling lies to the country adding that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochora has been instructed to deal with his people and recall the statement immediately.

Opondo said they are investigating 13 individuals said to be the owners of the extra luggage that was on the plane that included, medical equipment, industrial materials and machinery among others.

He urged the public stay calm saying that there were no wrong dealings that took place in the country that could cost the economy.
