The Chaplain of Nkumba University Fr. Harman Zziwa has laid out five tools that strengthen marriages once married couples perform them.

During the annual Valentines celebrations organised for the married couples by Holy Cross Family Ministries at Nsambya Parish, Fr. Zziwa said that once the following virtues are practiced in marriages; saying sorry, offering and caring to one another, saying thank you, working hard and praying to God, then families would be successful.

He says marriage is alive like a person, he or she needs all the good treatment, needs to be loved and courtesy

He explained that many marriages have failed due to laziness, gossiping, adultery, poor hygiene and violent acts practiced by both men and women.

Among the youths, Fr. Zziwa says young people fail marriages because they don’t go through the whole process of dating, courtship and holy marriages yet parents also abandoned their responsibilities of equipping children about the stages of getting married.

He emphasized that marriage means respect, love, companionship which are accompanied by practical things like; buying gifts, sharing and committing to one partner as the Catholic Church teaches.

Later, Fr. Zziwa together with the Parish Priest of St. Peters Nsambya Fr. Joseph Semanda and Fr. Leonard Olobo, the Holy Cross Family Ministries Director for East Africa renewed the matrimonial vows for married couples before attending the Valentine party.
